Bride Between the Sand and Tide

“Bride between sand and tide” was a project I started surrounding two sides of an alien planet, one side completely submerged under water, and one side so unbearably hot, people live in bubbles on the land. The main story is of an Alien Princess on the Sand side of the planet, inhabited by the Zek people, is forced into matrimony with the prince of the sea side, inhabited by the Pwuligs. She is in a secret affair with the royal servant who works in the kitchen, and desperately wants an out. I used this project to really try designing a species and a world. The Zeks are heavily inspired by the aesthetics and fashion of the 1970s, and the Pwuligs are inspired by the 1870s. Below are also the scrapped story build if it were to be a short film

“Bimbo Stain” is the name of my fictional dyke punk band, living in Santa Cruz in 1997. The story follows as the band has recently come together, Ruth [singer] and Indigo [bassist] having met in an overnight holding cell, Shirley [Guitar Player] being a friend of Ruths who bailed them out, and Lydia [Drummer] being a friend/fangirl of Shirleys. Over the course of the story, the band slowly figures out how to release their first album “the scab that scars”, while rising in popularity in the local underground scene. While they gig and progress musically, the character relationships are explored and conflicts are born. Included here are the character sheets for the four main characters, along with character sheets for Genesis, Shirleys girlfriend, and Iris, Lydias girlfriend. I have been making small comics with the character over time, along with a concept album, and hope to one day at least release a music video, or my own shorts surrounding the girls. Queer history is a big interest of mine, as well as riot grrrl/feminist punk. I want to reflect a fresh, fun, and grounding take on a punk band, where through all the rebellion and energy, there is the constant question of “will this thing even work out?”
